You are planning an office relocation or a floor reconfiguration.
Inventory first, decide second
Most office moves decide what is coming by looking at the new floorplan and working backwards. That tells you what fits. It does not tell you what you have.
An asset inventory taken before the plan is finalised changes the conversation: you find out you own eighty compliant chairs before you order sixty new ones.
Split by destination, not by category
The useful split is not "desks, chairs, IT". It is where each item is going.
- To the new space — measured against the plan, with a location on arrival.
- To reuse or resale — usable, surplus to the new layout. Modest money, but it exists.
- To recycling — genuinely finished, or regulated waste that has to go a specific route.
- To storage — needed later, or held while a phased fit-out completes.
IT and the WEEE route
Electrical and electronic equipment is regulated waste. It has to go through a licensed route and that route produces documentation.
Separate the usable kit from the finished kit before anything is collected, and make sure data-bearing devices are dealt with under your own information-security policy rather than assumed to be handled by whoever takes them away. Ask for the documentation and keep it.
Keep the records your reporting needs
If your organisation reports on waste or on scope-three emissions, the move is a reportable event and the records have to come from somewhere.
We give you the underlying paperwork — asset inventory, destinations, waste transfer notes, WEEE documentation. We do not write your sustainability report and we would be suspicious of a remover who offered to.
