Both halves of the page
Every removals company has a sustainability page now. Most are decorated with percentages nobody can substantiate and badges nobody awarded. Ours includes the half those pages leave out.
The reason this page exists in this shape is simple. If we can't tell you what we're not doing, you have no way of judging what we say we are. A list of virtues with nothing on the other side of the ledger is marketing, and you've read enough of it.
So: practices first, described specifically enough that you could hold us to them. Then the claims we decline to make, and why.
Six practices, described specifically

Crates instead of cardboard, as the default
Reusable crates are what we turn up with unless you ask otherwise. Cardboard is available where a crate genuinely will not do the job — odd shapes, very long items, anything going into long-term storage with a third party.

We take the packaging back
Crates, dollies, blankets, covers and straps all return to us. That is the whole point of the system: nothing about your move should need disposing of after it.

We consolidate loads wherever the dates allow
A fuller vehicle on the road is the largest practical difference available on a long move. Where your dates are flexible we will offer it, and we will tell you when it is genuinely not suitable.

We sort what is not coming, before the last day
Reuse, donation and disposal separated at survey. The pile that becomes a skip is a pile that was never looked at until the morning of the move.

Disposal goes through licensed carriers, with paperwork
Waste transfer documentation is produced for anything we take away, and you get a copy. It protects you legally and it is the only real evidence that disposal was done properly.

We keep vehicles loaded and routed sensibly
Fewer empty running miles, routes planned to avoid doubling back, and the smallest vehicle that will actually do the job rather than the biggest one in the yard.
Five things you won't find on this site

We do not call ourselves carbon neutral
Removals is a diesel industry and pretending otherwise would be dishonest. We reduce what can be reduced and we are specific about which things those are. A neutrality claim would rest on offsets we have not bought and cannot show you.

We do not quote a percentage saved
You will not find "40% lower emissions" anywhere on this site, because we cannot substantiate a figure like that for your particular move and neither can anyone else quoting one at you. What we can describe is what we actually do differently.

We do not display certifications we have not earned
No invented accreditation logos, no green award badges, no membership marks we are not entitled to. If we earn something, it will appear here with a registration number you can check.

We do not promise a charity will take your sofa
Reuse organisations have their own rules about upholstery, fire labels and condition, and those rules change. We tell you what is realistic at survey rather than after the van has left.

We do not claim an all-electric fleet
Electric vehicles do some of our urban work well and are not yet right for a loaded long-distance move. We will tell you what is coming to your address rather than implying something else.
If that costs us the job
We know a competitor's page saying "carbon neutral removals" reads better than ours saying we're not. Some people will book them on the strength of it.
We'd rather that than make a claim we couldn't stand behind if you asked for the evidence. If you're comparing us against a firm making bigger environmental claims, the useful question to put to them is the same one you should put to us: what specifically do you do differently, and what documentation comes with it?
If we earn an accreditation, it'll appear here with a registration number you can check. Until then, what you get is a description of what actually happens on the day.
